Drummer, listen up! If you have been looking for a drum stick that you can confidently take only 1 set with to a gig, look no further than the Carbostick 5A Classic Drum Sticks. These ultra-advanced and super-durable drum sticks are made of a unique patented carbon fiber compound which offers many of the same characteristics as standard wood including feel, sound, weight and balance. The big difference is Carbosticks last three to eight times longer than wood. Not only that, but they are specially manufactured to wick away perspiration virtually eliminating slip, resist abrasion and be unaffected by changes in temperature and humidity so they will not warp. The question is why do I still use standard sticks? I have no idea; I’ll be switching over soon. Thanks for reading.

Well folks, it was my son, Simon’s 1st birthday last Friday and I took the day off to celebrate it with him and my wife. It was tons of fun and exciting for him. He got so many gifts from friends and family that I’ll need to build an addition on the back side of my house just to hold everything. Ok, I’m kidding, sort of. Anyway, I realize that Simon is only a 1 year old but I just can’t help but think about getting him a Ludwig Junior 5 Piece Drum Set with Cymbals. Most parents get their kids instruments that are sort of “throw-away” quality, not me. I’m of the mind that if you want to see if your child will stick with an instrument, get him something that won’t break after 10 minutes of play so he can stick with it. It makes sense to me.

The Ludwig Junior 5 Piece Drum Set is built using the same quality materials and components as the full-size sets so the only difference is the size and pitch of the drums. It comes in your choice of 3 color options; black, blue and of course, red and it even ships with everything you need to get your little rocker started right out of the box. All you need to do is get some short drum stick for your little drummer. Happy Monday!

This just in…American Musical Supply has just added the super cool and very unique Kelly SHU Composite Drum Microphone Mounting System! Absolutely ingenious in design and function, the Kelly SHU is a great way to eliminate unwanted noise from other members of your band kicking the kick drum mic stand. The idea is simple, the Kelly SHU is suspended inside your kick drum using multiple, solid rubber bands to position the microphone in just the right place within the drum shell. It can be positioned in any way you like. The Kelly SHU Composite series also gives you your choice of our exclusive internal and external installation options, both within the same product. Complete instructions for both options are included with each Kelly SHU shockmount. Unfortunately, the days of watching your guitarist trip over your kick mic stand and you getting a little laugh out of it are over but this is a much better way of miking your kick so the trade-off is ok. Thanks for reading everybody have a great weekend.

Well friends, another deal of that type has come along and it will probably not last very long considering the price. The deal is on the Tama SK52HXS Superstar Hyper Drive 5 Piece Shell Kit Drum Set. Totally decked-out with professional grade features and components, the Tama SK52HXs shell kit is everything a player looking to upgrade would need. This includes high-quality birch shells with precision cut bearing edges for resonance and sustain as well as the same Zinc Die-Cast hoops found on the Starclassic series. The inclusion of die-cast hoops alone would usually kick the price up well beyond this current price, easily. To further flow with the color scheme, Tama opted to use black nickel hardware for a modern look but still maintains ultimate functionality and tone. They even included “Power Craft” drum heads to ensure a great sound practically right out of the box! Everything you could want and even need unless you need a kitchen sink within your drum kit. Thanks for reading.

What better day to add some killer new electronic drums to the American Musical Supply website than a Friday? The answer is…none, none more black. Consider that my nod to the movie, “This is Spinal Tap,” which is easily one of the greatest music mocumentaries ever. Moving right along, I really want to talk about the newly-added Alesis DM10 Pro Kit Electronic Drum Set. This kit goes above and beyond anything previously released by Alesis and even trumps several competing brand kit models as well. Built around the amazing new DM10 sound module, the DM10 Pro Kit features Alesis’ RealHead drum pads providing unparalleled realism and feel, SURGE Cymbals which are made of real cymbal alloy for true-to-life response and the all-new, Alesis ErgoRack mounting system, providing nearly limitless placement options. At this incredible price, the features and feel alone make it totally worth every penny.

The DM10 drum sound module contains true drum, cymbal and percussion sounds, built from real samples of classic studio drums and prized cymbals. Drummers will find some of the most in-demand acoustic drum sounds from legendary drum brands, a huge arsenal of top producers’ go-to snare drums, real American, Canadian, Chinese, and Turkish cymbals, and a choice selection of classic drum machine and electronic percussion sounds that have fueled the biggest hit records.

The DM10 Pro Kit comes with the curved, chrome-plated ErgoRack. It is heavy gauge, heavy duty and supremely adjustable. The ErgoRack is large enough to enable you to add on additional drum pads and Cymbals. You can even mount acoustic drums, cymbals, and percussion instruments on this butt-kickin’ rack. Thanks to the DM10 Pro Kit, there is finally a solution allowing for the use of both electronic and acoustic drums on one set. This is what it’s like when worlds collide. Okay, that was a little cheesy but oh well. Thanks for reading, have a great weekend and I’ll catch you again on Monday, right here!

This kit is built using 9 ply basswood shells with black powder coated low mass tuning lugs and hoops for great sound and a professional look and feel. What better way to keep your learning drummer interested in playing their instrument than getting them something they will never grow out of. Not only is this a great beginner kit but it is also stage-worthy in all respects. The basswood shells provide balanced sound with lots of power and plenty of sustain. Keep in mind here people that this is a shell kit only so you will have to pick up a hardware package but we have some great deal in that area as well. The Rock 20 is the best for the sound conscious drummer. Happy Friday everybody, have a great weekend!

Talk about an incredible value, this bad boy is double braced and actually features adjustable height that is not based on a number of holes drilled through the post. Yes, you can adjust the height of this throne to every conceivable height within its limit, of course. The throne seat easily separates from the post for storage and transport. Simple, effective and inexpensive is the name of the game in this piece of equipment. Hope you like it!

Happy Monday everybody…I hope not many of you have a case of the Mondays otherwise I’m in for some sweet comments on this post. Moving right along…I wanted to let you drummer know about a super sweet price drop on the Yamaha DTXTREME III Standard Electronic Drum Set. As blatantly stated on the American Musical Supply site, the previous price of this kit was an eye-popping $3199.00 and has come down significantly to $1599.95. Now, I’m no expert, but I’m guessing the price drop is here to clear out some inventory in order to make room for a new model. I could be way off base with that guess but it is a possibility.

Features of the DTXTREME III kit include redesigned cymbals, a new kick tower, and an all-new module built around the same technology that powers the supercharged Yamaha MOTIF XS synthesizer. In addition to over 1,000 on-board drum, percussion and special effect voices, the module includes over 100 General MIDI voices. With the optional memory installed, 512 MB of sampling allows players to trigger a large library of custom sounds. Combine the stacking and layering capabilities of 100 voices with other advanced features, and the DTXTREME III is a complete workstation for drummers. If you have been looking at this kit but didn’t want to fork over the big cash…now is the time to buy and I’m thinking you’ll be glad you waited. Have a great evening!

I’m sure you have head the term, ‘Practice makes perfect.” Many people in music teaching positions use this to put a semi-fun spin on the importance of practicing your instrument. They’re telling the truth, practice definitely helps you to hone your skills. Without it, you won’t develop muscle memory and you will find that you just don’t seem to be getting any better. Drummers rely on muscle memory more than other types of musicians since we are moving our limbs in the same way during a performance many times and therefore, we get better at performing usually at a slightly faster rate than other players. For those looking to really tighten up stick control and perfect the bounce needed for smooth rolls, the Kaces 6 Inch Practice Pad with Drum Sticks is the perfect travel companion regardless of your destination. This practice pad is designed to offer natural feel and rebound to expand your abilities with ease and affordability. The table top practice pad can also easily be mounted onto most cymbal stands and also includes a free pair of 5A sticks. Tighten up your timing with help from Kaces. Thanks for reading!
