Record up to 16 inputs over standard USB 2.0

By Ryan

It was just a matter of time before interfaces utilizing USB 2.0 for more than 2 tracks would become as affordable as they are now. Thanks to one of the oldest audio recording product companies, we now have the Tascam US2000 USB tascamus2000front2.0 Audio Interface. Thanks to the ever-evolving technology in our day and age, multi-track recording of more than 4 inputs is now a reality with USB rather than firewire. As you probably know, not all computes have a firewire or IEEE1394 connection so some of us have been unable to take advantage of multi-track recording with a computer. We could always buy an additional PCI card which would give us a couple firewire ports but that is yet another expense and not always affordable. The US2000 has a total of 8 XLR mic inputs with phantom power so you can record a full drumset in the studio and connect any synths, amp modelers and effects processors to any one of the additional six balanced 1/4 inch line inputs. When you connect an optional 8 input front end through the S/PDIF input and get 16 tracks, enough to capture a live band. The time of USB 2.0 has come!
