Just when you though you would never be able to downsize your bass rig, something like the Ibanez P5110 Promethean Bass Guitar Combo Amplifier comes along to give bassists more options to scale back their
gigantic rigs to something more portable and manageable. Now, granted, most bassists are likely similar to my bassist and swear that they will never get the tone that their 8×10 cabinet delivers but I’m of the mind that they are crazy. Tone is not measured in magnitude and does not necessarily require a huge cabinet to create that ideal tone. In fact, many studio recordings utilize small bass amplifiers and cabinets because like I said before, it isn’t the size that makes the tone. Let’s take a closer look at the tiny tone giant called the Promethean, shall we? Packing a power section of up to 500 watts with the optional extension cabinet connected and 250 with the built-in, 10 inch subwoofer speaker, this puppy gets loud either way you set it up! The Promethean also has a high frequency dome tweeter with passive crossover for detailed highs. A 6-band graphic EQ with bass and treble shelving tone controls is also provided so you can dial up the tone you want with ease. Other features include an auxiliary input and balanced XLR line output for simple direct connection to a mixer in a live performance situation. Check this little giant out for yourself, I have a feeling that you will not be disappointed.
