I find it to be a hard thing to come by, a speaker that doubles as a monitor wedge and a main speaker that is powered and affordable. It’s like a catch 22, most solutions for this are either really expensive or they are cheap and only work
as one or the other, monitor or main. The Tapco Thump TH15A Powered PA Speaker is the exception that has all the bases covered. It is self powered with a total of 400 watts, 300 for the woofer and 100 for the horn, more than enough. It is configurable for use as both a wedge type stage monitor thanks to its asymmetrical cabinet design and a main PA speaker. It even has a stand mount cup so you can easily get it up and over your audience for better coverage. Also included is a 3-band EQ with high, sweepable mid and low frequency controls to easily dial-in your desired sound. They also put in some extra circuitry to keep your TH-15As performing at their best. An Over-excursion filter, inserted just before the low frequency amplifier, protects the woofer from bottoming-out when the low-end is driven to the maximum. It seems like these guys thought of everything, thanks for reading.
