I’ve written about the JBL PRX series powered speakers in the past, closer to their release but they have surprised me yet again with another release. Ladies and gentlemen, check out the JBL PRX718S 18 inch Powered Subwoofer.
Tweaked out with even more power than its slightly smaller sibling the PRX518S, the 718S packs a total of 700 watts of pure punch. In applications requiring massive low frequency response, you can never go wrong with more power. Did I just make another reference to the sitcom Home Improvement? Ugh, I need a life. Anyway, more about these killer cabinets. These cabs feature class D amplification from Crown making them respond incredibly quickly to low frequency transients, projecting them to your audience as uncolored and accurately as possible. Leave it to JBL to produce such a killer speaker line and make it so affordable. Other features include a built-in 120Hz crossover, frequency response all the way down to 33Hz, 133 dB peak sound output and one of the most durably constructed boxes on the market. It packs a punch, takes a beating and comes back for more night after night, enough said.
