Drum Accessories for Every Drummer

This might sound a little strange considering that I work for American Musical Supply but I just stumbled upon some drum accessories that I had no idea we carried. No, I don’t get to just surf the website all day and drool over all the gear I’ll soon be purchasing, I do have to actually work. Anyway, I came across a few products that I thought were really cool and since I had no idea we had them, they became even cooler in my mind. Check them out.

The Fat Cat Dual Adjustable Snappy Snares that I recently found were one of the cooler pieces. It features 2 separate sets of snare wires with a separate adjustable tension for those in the middle. Pretty cool. So you could really have the snap of tight snares with the sensitivity of loose by setting the tension of your main throw off lower and tightening the tension of the adjustable inner set of snare wires.

The next cool item I found and have actually thought was really cool since the first time I saw it at NAMM 06 is the Drum Dial Precision Drum Tuner. The way this works is it is placed on the drum head with the Edge Gauge against the hoop in the where the tension rod is placed. It then measures the tension allowing you to match that tension at all the other tension rot points on the head. Where was this thing 30 years ago? Not even a twinkle in its developer’s eye. I recommend every drummer get one of these pronto to save audiences all over the country to pain involved with poorly tuned drums.

One product I just fell upon this morning that I did know we had is absolutely invaluable and every drummer should have this in their trap case or stick bag. The Zildjian Drummer Survival Kit includes everything you need to make simple fixes on the road or before the gig. This must-have package of goodies includes various felts for hi-hats both top and bottom and standard crash and ride cymbals, high tension nylon snare strings, cymbal stand sleeves, tension rod washers and a drum head repair patch. All this for only $6.95? You Betcha. I recommend picking one up ASAP.
